Vintage Sterling Silver and Gold Egyptian Motif Wide Bracelet-
This vintage find is so unusual I love it! The Egyptian motifs surrounding this wide statement bracelet are done is such detail and covers so many different jewelry styles. This piece has a tribal look to it but combines this with open work filigree, mil grain, and granulation framing each paneled scene. Each link has a different picture on it. Pharaoh, Pyramids with the Sphinx, Pharaoh sitting, a chariot, and an Egyptian head. The center design is accent4ed with a gold overlay to help to the detail and make it stand out against the silver. It also has an unusual catch to lock the bracelet in place with a pin and tube it slides into. This piece is for the person that is into collecting the unique and unusual.
Egyptian revival is jewelry inspired by ancient Egyptian styles, symbols, and motifs. Egyptian revival jewelry became very popular during the archaeological excavations in Egypt in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and particularly after the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922. Revivalist jewelers like Castellani were making Egyptian-style jewels 60 years before that, and Louis Comfort Tiffany was playing with the theme in his jewelry nearly a decade before the Tutankhamun excavation.
